HOW DO I GET TO KOKO CRATER BOTANICAL GARDEN

BY CAR – From Waikiki – Get on I-H-1E from Kalakaua Avenue, Monsarrat Avenue and 16th Avenue. Drive to HI-72. ( 9.8miles/Twenty four minutes)

BY BUS – From Waikiki – From Kuhio Avenue and Seaside Avenue catch The Bus #13 towards Waikiki -UH Manoa. Alight at Kapiolani Boulevarde and Waialae Avenue. Catch The Bus #1 towards Hawaii Kai. Alight at Lunalilo Home Road and Hawaii Kai Drive. (One hour fifty six minutes). Alight and walk 1.5 miles to Koko Crater Botanical Garden.

Koko Crater Botanical Garden was established in 1958 and is part of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. It is set on sixty acres and located within the two hundred acre Koko Crater which sits on the eastern end of Oahu. The garden has approximately five hundred trees and because of the dry landscape and desert conditions it is the ideal environment for plumeria (frangipani), hawaiian plants, bougainvillea, african plants, madagascan plants, cactus and succulents.image00

SELF GUIDED – Follow the map available on entry, it will take you on a two mile loop of the garden. Allow approximately one and a half hours.

HANDY HINTS WHEN VISITING KOKO CRATER BOTANICAL GARDENS

Bring your own drinking water as there is no potable water available.

Make sure you wear a hat, sunscreen and suitable walking shoes.
There is only a portable toilet available.
