HOW DO I GET TO HO’OMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDENS

BY CAR – Take I-H-1W and HI-63N to Anoi Road in Kaneohe. Follow Anoi Road and Luluku Road to Park Access Road. 32 minutes/14.4 miles.

BY BUS – From Kuhio Avenue and Seaside Avenue catch The Bus #19 towards Airport-Hickam. Alight at Alakea Street and S King Streets. Catch The Bus #65 towards Kaneohe-Kahaluu. Alight at Kamehameha Highway and KOA Kahiko Street. Walk 13 minutes to Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens. 1 hour 23 minutes.

Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens were established in 1982, built by the US Army Corps of Engineers to give flood protection for the township of Kaneohe.

Occupying around four hundred acres it features a lake and walking trails. You will find plants from major tropical regions representing the countries of Malaysia, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Tropical America, Melanesia, Hawaii, Polynesia and Africa.

AMENITIES AND SERVICES AVAILABLE AT THE HO’OMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDENS

Campgrounds, Visitor Centre and Lecture Room, Exhibition Hall, Workshop and Library.

There are eight campsites available from 9am Friday through to 4pm Monday. You will need to reserve your site by going to the website camping.honolulu.gov.
If you wish to hold your wedding ceremony at the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens you will need to obtain a permit and application from the Gardens. There is a limit of fifty guests per wedding because of limited parking spaces. Please check with website for details.
