Island of Oahu

Oahu, also known as ‘The Gathering Place’ is the home of many famous locations including Honolulu, Waikiki beach, the North Shore and Pearl Harbor. Most visitors begin their vacation in Oahu when they fly into the International airport located about 25 minutes from Waikiki Beach.

We recommend you spend at least one night in Oahu after your long flight even if you are planning on visiting another island. Your to-do list in Oahu could include, hiking to the top of Diamond Head Crater for a breathtaking view, hand feeding the brightly colored tropical fish while snorkeling at Hanauma Bay or testing your surfing skills at the famous Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore. lf shopping is more your style, a trip to the Ala Moana Shopping Centre, the Aloha Stadium Flea Market or the Wailtele Outlet Mall would be in order. For the big kid in all of us take the family to the Aulani Disney Resort for the full Disney experience Hawaiian style. If you love your history visit the Bishop Museum and the lolani Palace (the only official state residence of royalty in the USA). You can’t go past the a tour of the Dole Plantation and see how pineapples grow and while you up this part of the island head to Haleiwa Town on the north shore and take in the quaint art galleries and restaurants. lf that all seems too much simply relax on Waikiki Beach and end the day at the Dukes Canoe Club sipping on a cocktail watching the sun set over the beautiful water. If you do go to Dukes you just have to order a Hula Pie for dessert, you won’t regret it but be warned you might need some help to finish it off!!!
